Karin Susskind, MD, FAAFP

Board-certified doctor and mohelet

Welcome! Mazel Tov on your growing family!

As a family doctor and community mohelet, I feel honored to perform Brit Milah ceremonies to welcome baby boys into Judaism through this sacred tradition.

Ritual

My service is warm, inclusive and joyful. It often includes music, midrash (interpretation), and storytelling, while honoring our 4000 year-old mitzvah.

Naming

After the milah (circumcision), your son will receive his Hebrew name, and hear from his parent/s the meaning behind it.

Hebrew names are often chosen in honor or in memory of a family member, a quality that the parents hope to impart (e.g. Tov for goodness), or as a nod to the holiday time he was born (e.g. Simcha for Simchat Torah).

Blessings

Parents and honored guests will be offering words in Hebrew and English for the entrance into the Covenant, the Shehechiyanu (gratitude for the milestone), the kiddush (wine), and the motzi (bread) just prior to the festive meal.
